Outdoor recreation

Want something with a little more solitude? You’ll love the kayaking, hiking and nature appreciation at Pasadena’s Armand Bayou Nature Center. Established in the early 1970s, this pristine 2,500-acre natural environment in the middle of one of the fastest growing areas of the nation is the second largest urban wildlife preserve in the US and a critical estuary and watershed for this part of the Gulf Coast.

Clear Lake is another popular outdoor destination. The recreational activities at Clear Lake are endless: sailing, boating, jet skis, water skiing, fishing, hiking, biking, swimming, kayaking, canoeing, photography, and birding just to name a few. There is also abundant opportunity for shopping, dining, or just relaxing.  Boating enthusiasts can choose from 19 marinas and over 7,000 boat slips in the Clear Lake area, the third largest concentration of pleasure boats in the United States.

You can also spend a day at the beach without ever leaving Pasadena. El Jardin park is a city-owned beach with park benches, picnic tables, barbecue pits, electrical outlets and a parking lot. This spacious and beautiful beach on the bay offers swimming, sunbathing, picnicking, play areas and restrooms.
