Pasadena, TX provides endless opportunities for the expanisve small business community in collaboration with partners across the region. 

Pasadena Loves Local is a shop-local program designed to increase the awareness in local residents of the role local businesses play as the backbone of the Pasadena economy. Even more importantly, Pasadena Loves Local is an opportunity for residents to foster pride in the unique gifts and talents that exist in the local community. Along with Business Retention & Expansion efforts, in 2022, the program and its committee members will focus on facilitating educational and social events, workshops and forums built for small business owners to engage with and learn new skills and ideas to elevate their businesses, build their network and strengthen their ties to Pasadena.

Several events are slated for the Pasadena Loves Local campaign this year.

June 29 Small Business Resource Fair

Held from 8-10a at CT Church Pasadena, the Small Business Resource Fair will begin with a panel disussion with representatives from the Small Business Administration (SBA, Small Business Development Center (SBDC), SCORE, and San Jacinto College, who will be discussing resources that can help your business THRIVE.

After the panel discussion, guests can walk around the room and visit with multiple entities on hand and ready to tell you how to do business with them. RSVP HERE.

The Pasadena Loves Local program will have more workshops in the fall of 2022. 

Importance of Shopping Locally

There are many advantages to shopping locally, including:

  • Local businesses keep more money in the local economy. Studies indicate for every $100 spent at a local business, $68 stays in the community, compared to $43 spent at chain stores.
  • Small businesses increase local community engagement. Small, local businesses are more engaged in their community, reflected by the SCORE Association’s report indicating small businesses donate 250% more than larger businesses to local nonprofits and community causes, while 75% of small business owners donate an average of 6% of their profits to charitable organizations annually.
  • Small businesses offer a diverse shopping experience with unique products. Smallbusiness.com reports 61% of shoppers prefer small businesses for their unique products.
  • Small businesses create more jobs in their communities. The U.S. Small Businesses Administration's Office of Advocacy states small businesses have created 10.5 million net new jobs from 2000 to 2019, compared to only 5.6 million for large businesses.
