Your feedback inspires progress — a reimagined and enhanced Pasadena Convention Center is coming soon.

The City of Pasadena and the Pasadena Economic Development Corporation (PEDC) have set out to administer a major overhaul of improvements to the existing Pasadena Convention Center & Municipal Fairgrounds. The Pasadena Convention Center serves as the city’s namesake place for regional trade shows, and community events and festivals, and to keep up with the demand from the community and our regional partners, sustainable and innovative improvements to the Pasadena Convention Center are inevitable and necessary for Pasadena to maintain and elevate its stature as a growth sphere for dynamic economic activity.

The new Pasadena Arena & Convention Center will serve as a more accommodating vessel to gather, celebrate, learn, and discover. With this project, the new arena will be able to accommodate the growing event venue needs of regional educational partners. It will also allow our city to host larger scale entertainment events and regional conferences. This proposed project will create a more suitable space for all of Pasadena’s big moments, setting the city up as a contender in the multipurpose venue category for the southeast Harris County region.

This collaborative project stems directly from regional community partner input recorded in PEDC’s Strategic Plan (2018, updated 2023) with a recommendation to “reimagine renovations and additions to the Convention Center to include creative uses of the space, such as new cultural events and multi-use facilities.” The renovations to the Pasadena Convention Center will deliver this, and so much more.

Here is what you need to know about the major improvements to the Pasadena Convention Center:

• The $50M project will be funded through Sales Tax Revenue Bonds. PEDC will repay the Debt Service from Sales and Use Tax Revenue currently collected. PEDC is fiscally responsible for reinvesting those dollars back into the community through public infrastructure, quality of life and business development projects. Read more about PEDC here.
• Sales Tax Rates in the City of Pasadena will not increase due to this project.
• This project is not funded through resident property tax and will have no effect on the annual City of Pasadena Property Tax Rate.
• The estimated completion date of this project is Fall 2025.
