Port Houston’s Economic Development department works collaboratively with economic development corporations and organizations to attract and retain businesses that use the port’s facilities to import and export. The port’s economic development team has connected relationships with more than fifty different local and regional Economic Development groups as well as the state-level Governor’s Office for Economic Development.

Economic Development also serves as a primary point of contact for Houston’s industrial real estate community to discuss and promote port-related activity on private property throughout the city and region (deals involving port property fall under the port’s Real Estate department).

Houston is experiencing a renewed wave of interest from the national logistics community as a location for new import and export-oriented distribution centers. Houston is also a top national location for import and export-oriented manufacturing. The port’s economic development team works collaboratively with regional partners to attract these and other leads to the region.
