Houston-based developer Avera Companies announced Tuesday it plans to build a 143-acre industrial park in Pasadena.

The complex, dubbed Bayport Logistics Park, will feature Union Pacific rail service near Barbour's Cut and Bayport container terminals, allowing for development of rail-served logistics and distribution space, which has been a popular asset in recent years as distribution of consumer goods accelerates in Houston.

"Prime industrial sites in the south-east submarket have become exceedingly difficult to find due to increasing scarcity, presenting a big challenge in a submarket with constant demand," said Trey Odem, president and CEO of Avera.

The industrial park will host rail-served buildings between 200,000 square feet and 900,000 square feet and other buildings up to 1 million square feet.
