San Jacinto College officials are preparing to launch a program that aims to shape the future of education in Texas by addressing the workforce gap in early childhood education and meeting the increasing demand for qualified teachers.

The college in Pasadena is set to launch its Bachelor of Applied Science in Education with an emphasis in early childhood education in spring 2024, according to a June 27 news release from the college. 

"The BAS-ECE program is an important step in addressing the pressing workforce gap in early childhood education and promoting a more diverse pipeline of teachers," San Jacinto College Chancellor Brenda Hellyer said in the release. "We are committed to providing educational opportunities that meet the needs of our community."
